Are you a brand? Or do you want to learn more about brand ambassadors? Or perhaps you want to become a brand ambassador yourself? Then this article is made for you!

What is a brand ambassador?

You are maybe asking yourself “what is a brand ambassador”? According to Wikipedia: “A brand ambassador (sometimes also called a corporate ambassador) is a person who is hired by an organization or company to represent a brand in a positive light and by doing so they help to increase brand awareness and sales.”

First of all, that person is generally a customer of that particular brand. That is why this person can really talk about the brand as she knows and uses it on a regular basis. The brand ambassador is, in some way, the human representation of the brand.

Make no mistake, a brand ambassador is not the same as an influencer. An influencer is according to Influencer Marketing Hub: “An individual who has a following in a particular niche, which they actively engage with and has the power to affect purchase decisions. The size of the following depends on the size of the niche.”

With the influencer you cannot be sure that their review will be positive because they are speaking about what they are feeling. The difference with the brand ambassador is that once he has a contract with the brand, he has to say what the brand wants. Moreover, the partnership with a brand ambassador is usually longer than with an influencer.

The positive point with brand ambassador is that it really is his job. It means that he can analyze and listen what the customer wants. A brand ambassador has communication skills as well as a persuasion skill. Moreover, he interacts with people and offers solution to customers who have issues.

What can you get from a collaboration with a brand ambassador according to Hootsuite?

A brand ambassador will:

  • Humanize your brand.
  • Help you increase your social reach.
  • Help you protect your online reputation.
  • Provide a positive word-of-mouth.
  • Help increase traffic to your website.
  • Help increase awareness of your brand in regions you are not present in.

It can also be bad for you if:

  • You do not have a lot of control over the brand ambassador
  • The ambassador is not credible, it will cost you a lot of money that may not be worth
  • If he is too popular it may compete with the brand.

In the end, what you have to know is that there are positives and negatives points about working with a brand ambassador. You have to think wisely about the reasons why using a brand ambassador can be good or maybe why using an influencer can benefit you; depending on what you really need.

If you want to become a brand ambassador find here some tips:

First, you need to find your “niche”, what could you talk about? Is there something that you really love?

Once that it is done, you need to be creative. Give a real experience to your followers, you have to be fun or inspirational or even engaged. You need to build a real relation with your followers to grow your engagement! If there is a good relationship, they will trust you.

If you are really social and you create a content of quality, people will probably start following you, which means that your chances to being found by a brand will increase. Do not forget that being a brand ambassador means having a real contract, so you need to be professional and work under the guidelines that they give you.

Moreover, if you really want to become a brand ambassador it is possible, even if you are coming from nothing.
